#MyNavian: The Navian Hawaii Story

Navian: It’s likely a word you’d never heard of before reading this newsletter. Formed from the words “Navigator” and “Guardian,” Navian reflects our commitment to serving and advocating for our patients and their families by steering them to calmer waters and protecting their personal wishes. For every single one of our patients and their loved ones, we want to be a Navian—a supportive, guiding light to illuminate their journey ahead.

In celebration of this announcement, we asked some of our team members to share their Navian stories with us. Here’s what they had to say:

My Father, Tom Nakama

My father Tom Nakama is my #1 Navian. Throughout my life, he’s supported my decisions and empowered me to take risks and grow in confidence. He always has my back, and I’m so fortunate to have him in my life.

I owe so much of my success in my sales career to my father—he guided me every step of the way, from making decisions about my career path to learning how to conduct myself with honesty and integrity. My father is my backbone, and I truly can’t imagine my life without him.

My Father, MsGt. Anthony Pinpin

My Navian is my father, MsGt. Anthony Pinpin (retired USMC). You may notice that I don’t hesitate including his rank and service. This is because I am so proud of his service to his country, and most importantly, to our family.

My dad has always been my best friend, providing me with sound advice while growing up and, at the same time, doing his part to make me feel loved, supported and protected. While he carries himself so strongly and stoically with his militant stature, he always lived a life of devotion and love for our family.
