Hawaii Magic Festival

On Sunday, December 29, 2019, Navian Hawaii had an opportunity to raise awareness of our organization and funds at the Hawaii Magic Festival. A big mahalo to the Hawaii Magicians Society – IBM Ring 185 for generously donating $1,000 from the event proceeds to further support our mission. A special thanks to Navian Hawaii friend and supporter, Harvey Ouchi, for helping to make this partnership possible.

Swing Set Gifted to Kailua Home

Navian Hawaii employees got together at the Kailua Home one Saturday to assemble a swing set donated by our very own Dr. Jensen. We hope our patients and family members will enjoy it for years to come!

“Techniques for Communication”

On February 22, our very own Navian Hawaii volunteer Mapuana Taamu led a workshop called “Techniques for Communication” to help our patient care volunteers better understand dementia and how they can better assist our patients. The Hand-Under-Hand technique shown here helps with eye contact and attention, guiding with movement, providing help with fine motor tasks, and offering a sense of control. Mapuana is a “Certified Positive Approach to Care” Trainer and Registered Behavioral Technician. She has more than seven years of hands-on experience working directly with people living with dementia as a CNA and Activities Leader.
