At Home with Navian Hawaii

Over the past four months, the Navian Hawaii staff quickly adjusted to the state’s stay-at-home order. Although a majority of our team has been working from home, we continue to support each other and stay connected through Zoom and Teams video calls. On a more personal note, our staff has been making the most of their situation to explore old hobbies, pursue new projects, and reflect on time spent with loved ones. Here’s what a few of our staff members have been up to:

Lyndsey Matsuura,
Team Secretary

“I’ve been having a blast taking dance class at home on Zoom and Instagram Live. I have been dancing in church for many years and I love it! It has given me joy and helped me heal through tough times. I feel like when I’m dancing, I am able to release and freely express myself, hoping that it will also help encourage someone else.”

Demetria Bullocks,
Team Secretary

“This photo was taken at my daughter, Adriana’s college graduation in San Antonio, Texas, last year. I am happiest when I am with my family, so being away from them is difficult; my brothers, nieces, nephews and daughter all live in Texas. I love looking back on these photos because they are a true reflection of how my family always supports each other. We live hours apart, but we make the effort to be there for each other, even virtually.”

Colin Szarmes,
IT/EMR Specialist

“Over the past month, I’ve been working on an art project. It’s a piece of plywood that I cut into the shape of Wisconsin, has the state of Hawaii cut out inside of it, stained to represent the Hawaiian flag and Canadian flag, and covered in polyurethane for protection. Once I finished school this past May, I had a lot of time on my hands, so I decided to make something for my brother Duncan, who currently lives in Wisconsin but grew up in Hawaii and went to college in Canada. I’m thrilled with how the finished product turned out!”
