Reimagined “Amazing Race” style event to take place virtually on June 27, 2020

HONOLULU – Put on your thinking caps and start doing those jumping jacks because Navian Hawaii has reconfigured its annual fundraising event to take place in the comfort of your own home. Hot Pursuit at Home, presented by Par Hawaii, will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2020, and encourages participants to solve clues and tackle engaging physical challenges in a virtual, personalized setting. Prizes will be awarded to Top Fundraisers, Best Face Mask, Best Team Spirit, and Social Media Master.

“For the last 10 years, Navian Hawaii has hosted Hot Pursuit every April to align with National Healthcare Decisions Day and to encourage conversations about advance care planning,” said Tori Abe Carapelho, president and chief executive officer of Navian Hawaii. “This year, we had to postpone our race given the COVID-19 pandemic. Since it’s unclear as to when large group gatherings will once again be allowed, we’re pleased to present Hot Pursuit at Home, uniting our supporters and the local community virtually in support of a great cause.”

“As a longtime supporter of Navian Hawaii, Par Hawaii is committed to supporting their mission of caring for every life journey,” said Jim R. Yates, president of Par Hawaii, LLC. “We are proud to be the presenting sponsor of the reimagined Hot Pursuit at Home. This is the 11th consecutive year Par’s partnered with Navian to put on this fun event to raise money for Hawaii families fighting through life’s most difficult moments. Mahalo to all the participants and sponsors who make this important virtual event possible.”

Registration is now open for both individuals as well as for teams up to six participants. The online registration fee is $10 per person (ages six and up), free for children five and under. Teams are encouraged to fundraise, with net proceeds supporting Navian Hawaii’s programs and services and its mission to bring hope, reduce fears, and impact lives. In addition to this year’s prize categories, all race finishers will be entered into a random drawing to win the Ultimate Adventure Prize Pack, which includes a $100 HELE gas card, double kayak rental, Enjoy Snacks gift basket, two 40-oz flasks and a $50 Pig & the Lady gift card.

The virtual race will kick off at 9 a.m. via the Hot Pursuit at Home race site. Participants will enjoy welcome remarks and a Jazzercise warm-up before engaging in fun and challenging tasks and clues in a virtual race to the “finish line.” Teams are encouraged to use FaceTime or Zoom to complete the tasks and solve the clues together.

Hot Pursuit at Home was designed with participants’ health and safety in mind. As such, Navian Hawaii encourages all participants to adhere to current CDC guidelines and the City and State’s emergency orders.
