HONOLULU (February 23, 2021) – Navian Hawaii has hired Dr. Katie Melton as a Hospice & Palliative Care Physician. She is board certified in Hospice and Palliative Care and will be responsible for providing care to the nonprofit organization’s hospice and integrated care patients. She will also play an instrumental role in building Navian Hawaii’s Integrated Care program and moving it to the next level.

Established in 1979 as Hospice Hawaii, Navian Hawaii works to provide care for every life journey. Its Integrated Care program helps patients with serious but treatable illnesses while its Hospice Care program serves patients nearing their journey’s end.

Melton most recently served as a Hospice Staff Physician at Iowa City Hospice. She also served as Associate Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics’ Supportive and Palliative Care Program. She previously worked as a staff physician at VA Pacific Island Health Care System in Honolulu, where she provided outpatient primary care. She is also board certified in Internal Medicine.

Melton received her osteopathic medical degree from Des Moines University. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Tripler Army Medical Center and a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American College of Physicians.
